Dixie

My heart is embedded
Deep within the red rock
Leaving good old Dixie
Will never be a thought

Where the winters are warm
And the summer nights clear
Where the sun will shine hot
And clouds seldom shed a tear

The warm summer’s breeze
Finds a welcomed sigh of relief
When kids play in the sprinklers
And moms watch from the sink

The thunder clouds are gathering
Quick! Find that red camping chair!
Sit on the back porch next to dad
The summer lighting dance, is rare

Fall colors are slow to arrive
But they saved the best for last
Bold red’s, gold’s and browns
Like rare jewels, from the past

Winter weather is soon upon us
We’ll take to the old wood stove
Tellin’ stories about the ‘Wild West’
And teams of horses grandpa drove

Snow hangs on the red rock hills
Making them look a little surreal
With hints of red peaking through
The natural beauty is so very real

Then hugs and kisses, nighty night
Sleep well, sweet dreams, my dear
Arise the next morning to my surprise
Spring will suddenly, happily appear

With pastel pink and stark white petals
The blossoms soon will be in full bloom
Listen to the buzzing and the humming
Bee’s making honeycomb in their room

Yeah, My heart is embedded
Deep within the red rock
Leaving good old Dixie
Will never be a thought

Where the winters are warm
And the summer nights clear
Where the sun will shine hot
And clouds seldom shed a tear
