Dancing Memories

A gentle swaying melody
Crosses the old wooden floor
Carefully caressing a dream
In a memory once stored

A child's tiny feet start to dance
With daddy guiding her slow
Rocking her gently back and forth
The room takes on a subtle glow

Mom's beautiful dancing fingers
Perform a breathless ballet
Leaps and spins, they never tire
Then she pivots on the A

As mom waltzes across the keys
Music leaps off the stark white page
Dad takes his young girl by the hand
And starts to do a faster sway

Dancing and laughing to the piano
The young woman starts to tango
"Come on Daddy! You can keep up, right?"
And her dad matches the tempo

But like a dream the memory fades
And the present is brought about
Watching my daughter with her daddy
Is, no doubt, what life is all about

A gentle swaying melody
Crosses the new ballroom floor
Carefully caressing a child's mind

In her memory soon to be stored
